Dear fellow Perthes sufferers and families,

I am currently completing Year 12 in Adelaide, Australia and for the compulsory Research Project I decided to research Perthes Disease.

My decision to research this topic was due to the large impact it has had on my life for the past 11 years and my interest in gaining a greater understanding of the disease.

During this project I researched the disease itself, treatments (both historical and current), the physical impacts of being a sufferer and the psychological impacts of Perthes on a sufferer.

As I completed my research, I felt it necessary to share the information I gathered throughout the year. Providing this information to the general public because I feel as though Perthes disease is not only interesting, but also unknown to the majority of the population.

This website is a condensed and colaborated version of my research which contains all my knowledge I have gained throughout the research project. This information has been sourced from books, the internet, other sufferers and specialists, please note that these people were all happy for their information to be used and that I have included a reference list of all my sources used.

I think its important to remember that we can make the most out of life, and by having such a disease, it simply makes us more resilient, strong and determined.
